Small in size but packed with flavour, 'Mirabelle de Nancy' produces golden-yellow fruits with wonderfully sweet, juicy flesh, often developing tiny red speckles or a warm blush as they ripen. Pick them fully ripe for eating straight from the tree, when their characteristic rich sweetness really comes through.

The fruits are also freestone, with flesh that separates readily from the stone, making a generous harvest easy to put to good use in the kitchen. They make particularly good jams and preserves and can also be cooked into tarts, puddings and compotes. Fruits generally ripen around mid-August.

Self-fertile, 'Mirabelle de Nancy' can produce fruit without another plum nearby, although another compatible plum, damson or mirabelle can help improve pollination and cropping. Grafted onto St Julien A rootstock, it develops into a medium-sized fruit tree suited to the average garden.
