There's nothing quite like cutting a fresh lettuce straight from the garden, and 'Little Gem' gives you compact, tightly packed heads filled with crisp, sweet leaves. The crunchy outer leaves surround a tender heart, with plenty of flavour for such a small lettuce.

Its neat size makes 'Little Gem' particularly useful when you want to get more from your growing space. Plant a row in your veg patch or raised bed, grow a few in pots near the kitchen, or tuck plants into gaps between other crops. Starting with young plants also means you can skip the seed-sowing stage and get straight on with growing.

Try them on the barbecue too. Cut the hearts in half, give them a quick char and serve warm, or keep that lovely crunch and use the leaves fresh in salads, sandwiches and wraps.
