Apple 'Braeburn'
Crisp, Juicy Apples to Enjoy into Winter
- Crisp, sweet and juicy dessert apples
- Heavy crops of aromatic fruit
- Self-fertile, although a pollination partner can improve yields
- Excellent keeping qualities
- Grown on dwarfing M26 rootstock
There's a reason 'Braeburn' has become such a familiar favourite. Its crisp, firm apples have a delicious balance of sweetness and refreshing flavour, with juicy, aromatic flesh that's particularly good eaten fresh. The fruits develop an attractive red flush over yellow-green skin as they ripen.
Given a warm, sunny position, 'Braeburn' can produce heavy crops of late-season apples, ready to pick towards the end of autumn. It's also an excellent apple for storing, holding onto that characteristic crisp texture so you can continue enjoying your harvest well into winter. Specialist UK growers give a picking time around late October to early November, with good storage into late winter or around March.
Self-fertile, 'Braeburn' can produce fruit without another apple tree, although a compatible pollination partner can help increase yields. Your tree is grafted onto dwarfing M26 rootstock, making it a good choice where garden space is more limited. RHS specifically recommends M26 for smaller gardens and trained forms.
How your tree is supplied:
Supplied as a grafted bare-root tree on M26 rootstock, ready for planting during the dormant season.
